The Sri Lanka Scout Association launched the Sri Lanka Scouts Care, Covid 19 Pandemic Relief Project for 500 scouts and families in 10 scout districts. The project is to provide dry rations, food items and medicines for needy families of scouts and leaders due to the lockdown situation in the country.
The project was funded by the World Organisation of the Scout Movement by the ‘Scouts Emergency Response Fund to Covid 19’. A donation of USD 10,000/- was received and the entire sum has been spent on purchasing the food and other items and all local expenditure including transport was borne by local scout commissioners personally. 10 scout districts who applied to benefit from this project were given 50 relief packs each and the Sri Lanka Scout Association is thankful to many manufacturers for supplying the goods direct at short notice.
Today, distribution of the relief package took place in the Nuwara Eliya District, Central Province. The distribution ceremony was held at the N/Gamini Central College.
