A conference for the key office bearers of the 37 Scout districts in Sri Lanka took place on the 12th of September 2020 at “The Blue,” Hilton Colombo. The conference had over 50 participants from around the island with Prof. Kapila Perera, the Secretary to the Ministry of Education – a President’s Scout himself as Chief Guest and Miss Visakha Tillekeratne, the Chief Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association as Guest of Honour.
The Chief Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association, Maj. Gen. Milinda Peiris welcomed the gathering. The conference was also attended by Mr. Craig Turpie, the Chairman of the World Scout Committee, who joined the event virtually from Scotland, UK and addressed the participants thereafter. Both the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour then addressed the conference.
As the day progressed, the participants of the conference attended multiple sessions of value both in the main conference as well as breakouts.
The conference was immensely successful and was of value to all participants who now have a better understanding of Scouting in their respective districts.
